In which I talk about exploring Alcala and living with a host family

2 posts in one day- wooooo. You guys are lucky. Though I'm really just procrastinating reading about Pre-Romanesque art.

Exploring Alcala was a success! Two of my friends and I walked Calle Mayor, which is the main street here. It's where Miguel de Cervantes' house is, as well as many shops and restaurants. It's also probably the busiest place in town. I nearly emptied my wallet while shopping- there's so much I want to buy!

We stopped at a tapas bar and enjoyed Sangria and tapas outside, where we made plans for the next few days and watched people walk by. After that, we got some delicious gelato which we ate outside at the Plaza de Cervantes. I got Ferrero, which tasted exactly like those Ferrero Rocher chocolates! The weather was perfect; so far, it hasn't been too hot or cold. Apparently they're having a "cold" summer, which for me is ideal.

I should probably get to that homework. I have an essay to turn in tomorrow, as well as some exercises to complete.

I'll leave you all with some pictures!

  1. Do you and your friends from the program speak English or Spanish when you're together in public?

Do your classmates ask you a lot of questions about America? Do they have any crazy misconceptions about America, or tease you? (sorry for all da questions! :)
